Most travelers visit Hailuogou from Chengdu, as this provincial capital is well served by flights and high-speed trains from most cities in China. So far, visitors can get to Hailuogou Glacier Park by private car or long-distance bus from Chengdu, and it takes about 5 hours.

You can visit the Hailuogou Glacier Park all year round. However, autumn from October to mid-November is a wonderful time to see the colorful forest full of red, orange, and golden leaves. You can also visit from mid-April to mid-June to admire the pretty Azalea flowers. The period from July to August is the rainy season and is not recommended due to dangerous landslides.

Inside the park, you can see the 45 peaks over 6000 meters and more than100 peaks over 5000 meters. Hanging glaciers, hundreds of ice caves, and an ice forest make up the landscape. Very famous, the Great Ice Falls is 1,000 meters long and 1,100 meters wide, at an altitude of about 2800 meters above sea level. In the morning, when the sun rises, the fog all over the mountain makes the place mysterious and beautiful.
