Jingshan Park

Useful information

Coal Hill is also called Jingshan Park, and it’s an imperial park behind the Forbidden City. In the Ming dynasty, they created this hill with the land of the moat and the Beijing lakes. Some Chinese say it’s a Fengshui Hill because it protects the city from the harmful Yin and cold northern winds. In ancient China, only the emperors could walk here. If you climb this little hill, you can have a breathtaking view of the Forbidden City and Beijing city.
