Named after Hulun Lake and Buir Lake, the Hulun Buir Grassland is located in the northeast of Inner Mongolia and shares borders with Mongolia to the west and Russia to the north by the Ergun River.

Call the “Grass Kingdom”, the topography of the Hulun Buir Grassland is that the east side is high and the west side is low, between 650 and 700 meters above sea level, over 3,000 crisscrossing rivers and 500 lakes dotted around. Its natural grassland coverage is about 80%, and there are alkali grass, esparto, alfalfa, wheatgrass, etc, and more than 120 kinds of nutritious forage grass. Here, it is the birthplace of Genghis Khan and the Cradle of Nomadic People in Northern China. Today there are 32 ethnic groups living there, including Han, Mongolian, Manchurian, and Daur.
